Admission Process
Alta Career Academy accepts applications year-round and we welcome new students every day.
Alta Career Academy is committed to understanding your unique educational needs and providing you with a simple admissions process. We will first want to learn about your child’s needs, interests, educational goals, and learning style. Then we will answer any questions you may have.
We offer rolling admissions, which means that most students may start at any time during the school year. Once students complete an application, they will be admitted to the school regardless of race, gender, religion, or ethnic origin.
The admissions process starts with a visit to our school, where you will be warmly welcomed. During this visit we will speak with the family to understand the student’s needs, gather pertinent data from the parent and student, and go over information about our school.
To make this visit most productive, you will want to bring the following documents required for enrollment.
- Student ID for legal name verification
- Birth Certificate for age verification
- Parent(s) ID and current utility bill for name and address verification
- Florida School Entry Health Exam (DH 3040 yellow form) performed within one year prior to enrollment
- Florida Certificate of Immunization Form (DH 680 blue form) from a private doctor or local health provider
- Student’s most recent report card and transcript
- Psychoeducational Evaluation (if applicable)
- Individual Education Plan (IEP) (if applicable)
A thorough review of the student’s academic records will be performed, and our academic advisor will create an individualized academic plan for the student. Students may be required to complete additional assessments to properly determine course and grade-level placement.
Parentally placed private school students with a disability do not have an individual right to receive some or all of the special education and related services that the student would receive if enrolled in a public school under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as amended.
Once the annual registration fee, tuition payment, and signed Enrollment Agreement form have been received, an enrollment verification letter is given to the family. This letter is then brought to the previous school to officially withdraw the student from that school. Lastly, the student withdrawal form is brought to Alta Career Academy.
The newly enrolled student is granted access to Apex Learning, our learning management system, and may begin coursework.
Florida state law requires that original immunization and health records must be complete and filed with the school before the first day of school. Students will be admitted once these records are received and reviewed. Students are accepted without regard to race, gender, disability, creed, ethnic, or national origin.
